Brisbane (Meanjin)— or “Brissy” as its affectionately known — is the capital of Queensland and has a small, but active, gay scene.
We would first like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples. We pay our respects to the elders past and present, and acknowledge their continued connection to the land, water and society of this area.
What it lacks in dedicated gay cruise clubs, gay bars, gay cafes or gay restaurants it makes up for in a packed calendar of LGBTQ events and festivals and a host of queer social clubs that mean you’ll never be far from your rainbow family.
Where is the queer scene in Brisbane?
Everywhere in Brisbane is gay-friendly and welcoming, but head to the bars and clubs in Fortitude Valley, Teneriffe and New Farm for the best queer-friendly atmosphere.

As the capital city of the Sunshine State, Brisbane’s bustling CBD, scenic lush spaces, and energetic nightlife offer a little something for everyone.
Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ community is active and engaged, with a number of annual Queer events. Big Gay Day, which happens in May each year, raises funds for LGBTQIA+ charities. MELT: Festival of Queer Arts and Culture takes over the city each year with Queer performances, stories and art. Brisbane Pride runs many events throughout the year, including the Brisbane Pride Festival, Queen’s Ball, Fair Day, and Lgbtq+ fest March.

This group has been created to facilitate gay men (born onwards) to make new friends within the community and to have fun common experiences.
It is a very relaxed environment with activities to get you out meeting new people.
Most guys that do come to an event end up attending events regularly.
New to Brisbane or don’t contain many gay friends?
Adequately then come hang out with us and increase your social circle.
There will at least be a couple of events planned every month – but usually more! – with events ranging from hiking and outdoor activities including camping, meals out, sports, movie nights, trivia, going to festivals etc.
While most events will be within the Brisbane area, we also have events on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and/or a couple of hours drive from Brisbane.
