What I Do

I began my bodywork career working in a local gym. The space set aside for massage was a common area which did not allow for the normal Swedish type of massage, which uses oils or lotions and requires the client to be disrobed for the massage. Because of this, I began developing a style of massage that could be done dry and over clothes. I experimented with techniques from Shiatsu, Anma, Thai Massage, Myo-Facial Unleash , Rolfing, Orthopedic Massage, and Active Release Techniques, among others. The goal was to develop a combination of techniques that would allow for the launch of Trigger Points and Myo-Facial restrictions, which can be the source of many painful conditions.  The result is a manner of massage, done over the clothes, which combines pressure, stretching and concise, deep stroking motions to release Trigger Points and Myo-Facial restrictions. This manner of massage is suitable for people suffering from pain associated to secure restricted muscles and tissue, those more comfortable remaining clothed during massage or prefer a dry massage for its convenience.

As Massaged by Jobe approaches 30 years of practice (November ), the emblem has become a familiar and cherished symbol among our clients. The multi-colored mountainrange reflects the diversity of Hawai‘i’s people—welcoming clients of all nations, ages, shapes and sizes.

At the heart of our logo is a bright petroglyph of the Sun, an ancient symbol discovered on theisland of Kaua‘i carved thousands of years ago. This sun represents healing and renewal, embodying the essence of orthopedic massage therapy. Waves may separate our islands, but not our hearts.  The waves are a symbol that serves as a reminder of our deep connections here in Hawai'i. A bold "MASSAGED BY JOBE" announces the company name in  bright yellow which was my father's favorite color.
