Introduction
For the last two decades, Pew Research Center has reported that one of the most enduring ethical issues across Christian traditions is sexual diversity. For many Christians, one of the most frequently first-asked questions on this topic is, “What does the Bible say about attraction to someone of the same sex?”
Although its unlikely that the biblical authors had any notion of sexual orientation (for example, the term homosexual wasn't even coined until the late 19th century) for many people of faith, the Bible is looked to for timeless guidance on what it means to honor God with our lives; and this most certainly includes our sexuality.
Before we can jump into how it is that Christians can maintain the authority of the Bible and also affirm sexual diversity, it might be helpful if we started with a brief but clear overview of some of the assumptions informing many Christian approaches to understanding the Bible.

Bad Arguments Against Lgbtq+ Marriage
Abstract
This article claims that three ordinary arguments against queer marriage - the definitional, procreation, and slippery-slope arguments - are quite horrible, the worst of the lot. The definitional argument asserts that marriage just is the union of one dude and one gal, and that the definition alone is a sufficient defense against claims for gay marriage. The procreation argument claims that marriage's core public purpose is to encourage procreation, and so the exclusion of queer couples is justified. The slippery-slope argument claims that the acceptance of homosexual marriage logically entails the acceptance of other public policy changes - notably the acceptance of polygamy - that would themselves be bad, independent of whether gay marriage is bad. While each argument has some appeal, and each has adherents both inside and outside the legal academy, each is badly flawed as a matter of logic, experience, politics, or some combination of the three. About six-in-ten Americans say legalization of same-sex marriage is good for society
With the Senate set to accept up a bill that would protect same-sex marriage at the federal level, a clear majority of Americans continue to utter that the legalization of same-sex marriage is excellent for society.
About six-in-ten adults (61%) express a positive view of the impact of same-sex marriage organism legal, including 36% who say it is very good for society. Roughly four-in-ten have a negative view (37%), with 19% saying it is very bad.

First, it’s important to note that there can be no such thing as “marriage” between two members of the same sex. This is because marriage by essence is a union that is ordered toward the procreation and education of offspring, which necessarily involves both male and female. So, to talk about “gay marriage” is an unintelligible phrase, akin to a “square circle.”
With regard to why sexual task among members of the same sex is poor, we must look to the nature of sex and what is wonderful and bad given our nature as human beings.
What is good for us as human beings is determined by the ends of our inherent capacities.
